Rio de Janeiro

It is a great popular festival, which involves Brazilian and foreigners, which get marveled with the beauty of this unique event. The carnival mixes emotions, creativity, colors, sounds and much fantasy.

The city breathes for five days an enviable air of joy. The culmination of the festival is the samba schools parade, at the Marquês de Sapucaí, where the schools compete for the title of Carnival champion. Samba, colors and splendid costumes are the main ingredients of this great dispute.

On the streets, popular parades, bands in each district of the city and balls promoted by clubs and hotels in the city confirm that the Carnival in Rio, as well as art, music, literature and magic, is above alll the joy.

Nowadays, the Carnival party in Rio de Janeiro begins before the official days of Carnival. In August start the practices in the courts of many samba schools in the city. In December, the city is already shaking with the "streets practices" of the samba schools and with the newly emerging "technical practice" that take tens of thousands of people to Sambadromo every weekend.
